Ubisoft's smash hit looter-shooter, The Division 2 was going to receive an exciting new expansion. Unfortunately, a major delay has plagued its way into the game, leaving fans high and dry.
Ubisoft has revealed a few reasons why its DLC was also delayed unexpectedly, and a few hints as to when it would finally come. Here's everything we know so far!
Ubisoft has cited a few key reasons for the delay of The Division 2 DLC:
Technical Issues – Improvements of the game engine and integration of new content have taken quite some time.
More Ambitious DLC Plans: The development team wants to put out a larger, more fleshed-out expansion rather than a minor update.
Player Feedback Changes: Some in-game mechanics are being changed based on feedback from the community.
Internal Development Delays at Ubisoft: Ubisoft has delayed several titles recently, and The Division 2 is no different, it would seem.
All these factors combined forced Ubisoft's hand to officially delay the DLC's release.
Ubisoft has not shown what the DLC contains entirely, but leaks and insider reports indicate that the expansion will have:
New Story Missions – Extension of events in Washington D.C. and New York.
Larger Open World – Explorable areas and locations.
Gameplay Enhancements – New skills, weapons, and gear for the experience.
More Multiplayer Content – Possibly new co-op missions and PvP modes.
This seems to be what Ubisoft is hoping for-to have a great expansion with much more content, no matter how long that takes.
It was announced that the new story DLC will not be released on the 6th anniversary of the game.
Ubisoft thanked fans for its work and provided some information about upcoming content:
The Division 2’s new DLC is facing a much bigger delay than expected. While this is frustrating for many players, Ubisoft insists that the extra time will help deliver a larger, more polished expansion.
Now, the big question is: Will this delay result in an amazing update, or is Ubisoft testing the patience of its player base?
